Does a cav unit do anything particularly different in OIF/OEF?

I know cav units are meant to scout out the enemy of an advanced BCT. However, in these wars obviously we aren't practicing conventional warfare. Are cav units doing anything different than infantry units or pretty much the same damn thing (patrolling)?
